Reflection on my FIRST end cancer walk

"THE WEEKEND TO END BREAST CANCER"
One-Day Walk
September 12, 2009. Toronto. From CNE --> Downsview: 33KM

It was quite an eventful day! I sincerely thank all those who supported me in donations and in prayers and spirit! =>

A lot of preparation and organization has been given into this event. Pit stops with water, Gatorade, snacks and portables along the way;

volunteers who dressed up, and many of them on motocycles, guiding and leading us the walkers especially at the intersections;

vans kept driving by to see who would be in need of simply anything;

and residents of the neighbourhood cheering and encouraging us with signs, cheers, costumes, AND snacks! I was so impressed!

For 33K in Toronto of course it couldn't have been simply a straight line from CNE to Downsview; we had to go through small streets and sometimes we even visited the same street twice. If before the walk you were to ask me what route I was gonna take I would have told you that I didn't have any tiny idea, and not to mention after the walk I could only remember some streets like Bloor, Lawrence, Dixon, and Keele, that's it. But along the whole journey blue circle sings with arrows were placed on poles and obvious places to guide the walkers. You see, we started as a group of about 4600 and my friend and I finished may be in the last 30 I'd say. You would first follow the people, but then when people walked ahead of you and with no signs of other walkers or volunteers on some streets all we could trust was the blue signs. Moreover, temptation to give up the walk and take the van to the finish line was indeed not small because the walk was to me pretty hard!

It reminds me of Proverbs 3:5-8 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."

Not to mention I didn't ask what route I was gonna take, even if i had asked would I have actually remembered all the streets and turns? To me, there may be a lot of unknowns in the future, and who knows where life is taking me? All I need to do is to trust the "blue signs", the Lord Himself and the Word of God, with all of my heart, soul, mind and strength, and lean not on my own understanding. Because the faithful Almighty God does know where He is taking me. There will be a lot of difficulties, challenges and temptations along the life journey, but as the volunteers, walkers and residents cheering for us along the walk, it gives me the encouragement and commitment that since I'm "surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, I am to throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and run with perseverance the race marked out for me. I'm also to fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith."

Praise God for strengthening me to finish the walk, I know it wasn't my own strength;
Praise God for guiding and leading me to the finish line where I will be with Him forever, who initiated and will pefect my faith;
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!
